Who we are
Painting Ground is an independent curatorial platform and evolving research project founded by artist Jack Halford. Rooted in the belief that art should be both visible and valuable to artists, collectors, and communities alike. Painting Ground is being built in purposeful phases.
Phase One begins with curated, exclusive online collections of original artwork. These launches will connect artists directly to collectors looking for meaningful, contemporary work and offer an alternative to the noise and impersonal nature of larger online platforms. Every collection is tightly curated, exclusive to Painting Ground, and designed to highlight emerging or underrepresented voices in the art world.
Revenue from these sales fuels Phase Two: real-world exhibitions and artist-led community workshops across the UK. The idea is simple, sales fund action. Through this model, artists don’t just gain visibility and income from their work, but paid opportunities to share their skills with underserved communities through creative workshops and public programming.
Alongside these phases, Painting Ground will launch a podcast, broadcasting intimate conversations with the artists we work with, as well as with organisers, educators, and cultural workers. This will serve as both documentation and dialogue: a space to share ideas, expand our network, and grow public understanding of the power of creative practice.
As Painting Ground grows, so will its reach. Each purchase supports the next step: a collector buying into a vision where art isn’t just bought and sold, but activated. This is about building something sustainable, authentic, and rooted in care — one collection, one conversation, one workshop at a time.
Founded and run by Jack Halford, an artist from Leicester with a background in painting, arts education, and community work. Painting Ground is driven by a desire to create abundance in the arts. Not just through sales, but through opportunity. Jack is also the author of Man Up, a small publication exploring mental health, masculinity, and creative resilience.
